Neff J. Ritchie, age 93, formerly of Ladora, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center, following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 26, 2007, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Ladora Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday, May 25, 2007 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

He is survived by a son, Carroll Ritchie and wife Bonnie of Marion; a daughter, Marvelyn Wendel and husband Jim of Amana; six grandchildren, Denise Martin of Cedar Rapids, Lonny Witte and wife Sherry of Lisbon, Kevin Witte and wife Deb of Cedar Rapids, Scott Witte and wife Val of South Amana, Craig Ritchie of Marion and Christine Ritchie of Cedar Rapids; seven great-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and one step- great-great grandchild. Also surviving is a sister, Wilda Rotter of Marengo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, three sisters, Virginia Benge, Ruth Rotter, and Cathleen Sanchez, and three brothers, Charles, Freeman and Frederick, and a great-granddaughter, Jamie Waddilove.

Neff John Ritchie was born March 3, 1914 in Singers Glen, Virginia, the son of Fredrick and Flora Kline Ritchie. He attended country schools in Benton, Tama and Iowa County. Neff married Dorothy M. Lutz on May 9, 1934 at the Methodist Parsonage in Ladora, Iowa. Besides farming, Neff drove a milk truck, drove school bus and ran a chainsaw and lawnmower repair shop. Neff and Dorothy loved to travel. They had visited 46 of our 50 states. He was a member of the Ladora United Methodist Church.
