Wayne Geyer, died 20 Mar 2007, age 75

Wayne Everett Geyer was born near Keota, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Edna (Webster) Geyer. Wayne died after a tractor rollover near Holbrook. He graduated from Parnell High School. On March 22, 1953 Wayne and Shirley Yoder were married in Asbury Methodist Church in Wellman. The couple lived in the community where Wayne farmed and was employed at Amana Refrigeration and Keinze Manufacturing. After retirement he continued to enjoy raising cattle and farming. He enjoyed tractor and participated in many Tractor-Cade rides. Everyone who knew Wayne, and there are numerous, knew his friendly, easy going manner. He will be missed.Wayne was a member of the Windham Community Church, a Harden township trustee, and a Farm Bureau member. Wayne is survived by three children and their spouses; Doyle and Janet Geyer of Parnell, De Ann and James Claypool of Williamsburg, David and Anna Geyer of Oxford, six grandchildren, Jacob and Gretchen Geyer, Cora and Will Claypool and Levi and Rachel Geyer. Also surviving are two brothers, Richard and Anna Mae Geyer of Iowa City, Raymond and Mary Geyer of Wellman and one sister Donna Wenell of Des Moines.Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Shirley (June 5, 2000). A memorial fund in Wayne’s name has been established fore the Windham Community Church, Parnell 1st Responders, or Williamsburg Fire Department.Wayne’s family would like to thank everyone who has been so helpful and supportive of them during their sudden, tragic loss. Your prayers, expressions of sympathy and many acts of kindness will always be remembered. May God Bless each of you.
