Leslie Wayne Haldy, age 60 of Amana, died Saturday, March 17, 2007 at his home following a sudden illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 21, 2007, Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana with Elder Ellie Hoehnle officiating. Burial will be in the Amana Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at the Middle Amana Community Church. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by a brother Ronald Haldy of Walford; an aunt, Dorothy DeGood of Amana; nieces, Lisa Wnek (Tim) of Middle and Heidi Haldy of Lexington, KY; cousins, Ruby Kleinmeyer (Rick) of Homestead, and Dennis DeGood of Corpus Christi, TX; great nieces Caitlin and Danielle Wnek and cousins, Amanda, Jennie and Christa Kleinmeyer; and many cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Leslie Wayne Haldy was born October 30, 1946 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son of Herbert J. and Louise E. Rohrbacher Haldy. He graduated from Amana High School in 1966 and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Amana Refrigeration for many years and most recently worked at the Grapevine Winery. Leslie was a hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Amana Sportsmen’s Club. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, cooking, golf, and playing cards.
