Anna M. Pierce died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Ben Montross in Millersburg, April 6, 1917 the age of 77 years. She was born in New York and raised by Dr. John Jaynes in Lone Tree, Iowa. She married James Metteer in Muscatine County, Iowa on February 8, 1863. The family moved to Nebraska in 1883. She is buried by her husband in Lynch, Nebraska.
