Emilie P. Graesser, age 96, died peacefully Thursday, October 12, 2006 at Colonial Manor of Amana, following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana with Elder Emilie Hoppe officiating. Burial will be in the West Amana Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 P.M. Friday, October 13, 2006 at the Middle Amana Community Church. Memorials may be contributed to the Amana Church Society. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by a son, Melvin Graesser (Harriet) of Middle; a daughter, Arlene Green of Amana; five grandchildren, Julie Otte of Cedar Falls, Jill Johnson (Matthew) of Middle Amana, Susan Hollrah (Brian) of Middle Amana, David Green (Heidi) of Center Point and William Graesser (Jane) of Middle Amana; seven great-grandchildren who she loved dearly, Eric, Mark and Kathryn Otte, Rebecca and Anneli Hollrah, and Anna and Sarah Johnson. Also surviving are a sister, Marilyn Sinnard of Knoxville, and two sisters-in-law, Ethel Miller of West Amana and Linda Selzer of Homestead. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard in 1980, a brother, George Miller and a brother-in-law, Gene Sinnard.

Emilie Pauline Miller was born December 11, 1909 in West Amana, the daughter of Emil and Johanna Schoenfelder Miller. She received her education in the West Amana School and married Richard Graesser in West Amana on October 15, 1932. Emilie lived her entire life in West Amana until the infirmities of age made it necessary for her to move to Colonial Manor of Amana, where she has resided for the last two years. Her family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Colonial Manor for the care and kindness shown to Emilie.

Emilie enjoyed gardening, flowers and traveling, but most of all, spending time with her family. She was a lifelong member of the Amana Church Society and the Amana Heritage Society.
