William James Welsh, age 49 of rural Williamsburg, IA, died at his home on Thursday, June 29, 2006. A Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 AM Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg with Pastor Doug Morton officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 3, 2006 from 4 PM to 8 PM. A private burial service will be held in Harrington Cemetery, rural Williamsburg on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at 11:00 AM. A general memorial fund has been established. William James Welsh was born on June 7, 1959 in Iowa City, IA, the son of James Vincent and Kathleen Ann Kessler Welsh. He grew up in the Williamsburg community and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1975. Bill worked as an electrician for a number of years, farmed and most recently worked at J & S Farm Supply in Williamsburg. On March 19, 1994 Bill was united in marriage to Jeanne Wolter at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo, IA. They made their home on a farm east of Williamsburg. Bill enjoyed wrestling while in High School and later pheasant hunting. Bill lived 49 years and 22 days. He is survived by his, wife Jeanne Welsh of Williamsburg, IA; his son Micheal Welsh at home; his father James V. Welsh of Williamsburg, IA; two brothers: Robert (Nancy) Welsh of Williamsburg, IA and Thomas (Holli) Welsh of Williamsburg, IA; six sisters: Laura (Mark) Engler of Mitchellville, IA; Janet Welsh (Bruce Fairbanks) of Cincinnati, OH; Marita Welch of West Des Moines; Joan (Joel) Grabin of Oxford, IA; Diane (Bob) Lotz of North Liberty, IA; and Kathy Welsh (Bartley Brown) of Iowa City, IA. He was preceded in death by his mother.
