Eileen H. Grinder, 69 of 234 Camden Road, died Friday, June 23 from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 28 at Brosh Chapel in Solon. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and for an hour prior to services Wednesday at Brosh Chapel. As per Eileen’s wishes she will be cremated following services. A private family inurnment will be Friday, June 30 at Cedar Memorial Cemetery.

Eileen was born March 2, 1937 in Williamsburg, the daughter of Harold and Velma Collingwood Hofmaster. She worked for many years as a legal secretary for Dial Corporation and for over 25 years as a secretary for College Community Schools.

Eileen is survived by a son Kevin (Gaetana) Grinder of West Haven, Connecticut; a daughter Jennifer Grinder of Garland, Texas; two grandchildren Zoe and Patrick; her mother Velma Hofmaster of Cedar Rapids; two sisters Janice (Jim) McCrabb of West Liberty; a brother in law Ron Becicka of West Des Moines; and a brother Rick (Pat) Hofmaster of Sacramento, California. Preceding her in death was her father Harold. Her sister Sandra Becicka died June 24, 2006.

Eileen enjoyed life to its fullest. Among the things that she really enjoyed were following the Hawkeyes, traveling, Southwest living, Latino food, classical and celtic music, sewing needlepoint and stitching, spending time at the cabin, eating chocolate and looking and feeling young.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her name. Memorials may be sent to the family at 234 Camden Road, Iowa City, Iowa 52245.
