Williamsburg–Norman Lewis “Hoppy” Caskey was born April 29, 1926 in Keswick, Iowa, the son of Roy and Mabel Sears Caskey. He graduated from Keswick High School in 1944. Norman served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946. Norman was united in marriage to Phyllis Mumm on December 24, 1947 at the Methodist Church parsonage in Williamsburg. Since their marriage the couple has lived in the Williamsburg area. Norman has worked as an independent truck driver for many years and later worked at Williamsburg Manufacturing driving truck and maintenance. Norman enjoyed fishing, wood working, being in the outdoors and especially spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Norman died Saturday, June 24, 2006 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital in Marengo after a sudden illness at the age of 80 years. He is survived by his wife Phyllis; a son and daughters: Ken Caskey of Williamsburg, Barb (Art) Landuyt of Williamsburg, Sherry (Mike) Pope of Williamsburg, daughter-in-law: Sherry Caskey of Williamsburg and a daughter: Jeanette (Allen) Himmelsbach of Marengo; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; a sister: Doris (Charles) Hanchett of Sigourney and a sister-in-law: June Caskey of North English. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Larry Caskey in 2003; two brothers: Orley and Russell Caskey and a sister: Velma Cranston. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30am Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. Pastor James Parks will officiate. Burial will be in the Pilot Grove Cemetery near Williamsburg with military rites. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. A general memorial has been tablished.
