Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Monday May 22, 2006 at St. James Lutheran Church of Victor, Iowa

The daughter of Joseph and Alice Mae Dohrn Safken, Joan was born February 25, 1940, in Grinnell. She was baptized August 27, 1942, at the Congregational Church in Victor and later confirmed June 3, 1962, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha. She was a 1958 graduate of Victor High School. On April 1, 1962, Joan was united in marriage to Everett Iburg, at the Zion Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Victor where she was a homemaker and self-employed bookkeeper. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Victor. She was also treasurer of the Victor Chamber of Commerce, treasurer of the Victor Quase-centennial, treasurer and secretary of the Victor Memorial Cemetery Board and sexton of the cemetery. Joan enjoyed camping and flower gardening, with many of her home grown flowers given as bouquets to parents of HLV Band parents. She also enjoyed her cats and loved to play cards with family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Everett of Victor, one daughter and son-in-law, Leanne and Rev. Keith Brozek; of Stromsburg, Nebraska; and three grandsons, Jeffrey, Kyle and Gregory Brozek. Joan died May 17, 2006, at Marengo Memorial Hospital, at the age of 66. She was preceded in death by her parents.
