Dolores J. “Dolly” Smith, 79, of 1233 U Ave, Amana, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, April 21, 2006, in St. Luke’s Hospital following a long illness. Services at 3 PM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Dr. David Bissell of the Seventh Day Adventist Church will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Monday and at the chapel after 2:30 PM on Tuesday.Surviving to honor her memory are her son Lary of Amana, daughter Linda Sweet (Terry) of Cedar Rapids, a sister Ruth Cadwallader (Stan) of Hiawatha, three grandsons Stephen, Timothy (Jen) and Ethan Smith, a step grandson Todd Sweet (Kelly), great-grandson Evan Smith, two step great-granddaughters Keagan and McKenzie Sweet, three sisters in law Jerry Smith, Darlene Weaver, and Beverly Burt (Hank), a brother in law Orville Smith (Shirley), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an infant brother Donald. Dolores was born June 30, 1926 in Vinton to Leon and Ruth Pettit Nemecek. She married Milford E. Smith on May 20, 1945 in Cedar Rapids. He died October 20, 1998. She had worked in the office and assembly at Collins Radio, and was office manager at Valeron. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and loved her pets. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Camp Courageous of Iowa, 12007 190th Street, Monticello, Iowa 52310.
