Lawrence A. Cooperider, age 87, died Friday, April 14, 2006 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 17, 2006, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Shepherd Karmen Jamison officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, April 16, 2006 at Kloster Funeral Home with Masonic Services at 7 P.M. A memorial fund has been established.He is survived by his wife, Margret “Peggy”; two sons, Albert of Clarence, and George and wife Arlene of Omaha, NE; three grandchildren, Ellen Knier and husband Steve of Grafton, WI, Mark Cooperider of Wilsonville, Oregon, and David Cooperider of Omaha, NE; two great-grandchildren, Spencer and Alaina Knier of Grafton, WI and a sister, Wanda McCaw of Marengo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Zuber.Lawrence Albert Cooperider was born July 6, 1918 in Iowa County, Iowa, the son of Bert and Velma Davis Cooperider. He graduated from Marengo High School in 1937 and married Margret “Peggy” Newton on June 16, 1940 in Norway, Iowa. Lawrence farmed for many years; He also worked as a mechanic at Knowling Implement in Iowa City, and Shaull Implement in Marengo. Most recently he was employed in the mailroom at the Marengo Publishing Company. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
