Melvin E. Schmidt, 73, of 510 W. 15th St., Vinton, formerly of Williamsburg, died Monday, April 10, 2006, from injuries suffered in a car accident in Vinton. Graveside services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg, by the Rev. Frederick Wood. The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the family home. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Marilea; two daughters, Nancie (Tony) Patterson of Aplington and Julie (Don) Danielson of Vinton; a granddaughter, Rachel Patterson of Aplington; three brothers, Orlen (Kay) of Altoona, Loren (Marcia) of Gladbrook and Marvin (Margene) of Waverly; a sister, Marlene (Arnold) Cornelius of Janesville; and nieces and nephews.
