Williamsburgh Journal, Williamsburgh (Iowa Co.), Iowa, 30 March 1888, p3.

Mr. and Mrs. John J. Hughes took the train Monday evening for Fremont, Nebraska, their future home. They have lived for many years in this community, and have a host of warm personal friends and relatives, who hold them in high esteem, and regret very much their departure. Mr. Hughes is a fine mechanic, a reliable contractor and builder, has but few equals, and is a square dealing, honorable, upright gentleman. This locality, and in fact Iowa at large, appears to be at a stand still, but little building being done, so Mr. H. concluded to make the change. We lose and Fremont gains a most estimable citizen.
