NOTES:
1. Four of Sarah (Gorby) and Frank Fields’ eight children died at young ages or without marrying. Seven of their eight children are buried at the ‘old-original’ Koszta Cemetery in Koszta, Iowa Co., Iowa. A ‘Family Tombstone’ was erected by an unknown individual, probably after 1899 but before 1914, for Sarah and six of their children. Their son Arthur Fields has a separate headstone. There is a GAR Marker for Frank Fields but it is not known if he was buried there; he was definitely not buried in the cemetery of the Iowa State Soldier’s Home.
2. Stephen Craft, the father of George W., enlisted for Civil War Service in Koszta, Iowa Co., Iowa on 20 August 1862, at age 42; he served as a Private with the 24th Iowa Volunteer Regiment. He died, of disease while on active duty, on 02 January 1863 in Helena, Arkansas. His remains were apparently returned to Iowa and he was buried the Koszta Cemetery in Koszta, Iowa Co., Iowa. A tombstone was recently erected for he and his wife courtesy of their descendant Rev. Denis R. Craft.
3. George W. Craft’s other marriages:
-1st on 15 February 1877 in Tama Co., Iowa to Martha L. SHAW (b: 05 February 1858 in Adair Co., Missouri-d: 27 August 1879 in Poweshiek or Tama Co., Iowa)
-possibly 2nd between 27 August 1879 and 1886 to Unknown
-2nd or 3rd about 1886/87 in Iowa (divorced after 1895-before 1902) to Martha Nichols (b: 29 December 1868 in Scott Co., Iowa)
-3rd or 4th to Almyra L. Fields (my great grandmother)
4. Myra Fields and George Craft were first cousins once removed; her paternal grandmother and George's mother were sisters.
5. Myra told a grandson and a granddaughter that her father or grandfather, they could not remember which, was a full-blooded Native American ‘Chief' of the Mohawk Tribe.
5. George W. Craft's death, at age 83, was the result of his being hit by a Taxi Cab in front of his "Typewriter and Sewing Machine Sales and Service" shop at 4037 Easton Ave. St Louis, St Louis Co., Missouri.

The End
