The information I have about Daniel & Annie Sones is limited and comes mostly from oral family history and a few obitutaries, etc. Daniel and Annie were married in January of 1878 (I have a couple of conflicting dates). They had a daughter Martha Letitia (Lettie) born 5-11-1880 and a son Walter James born 8-25-1888. Daniel died as the result of a fall from a hay loft which paralyzed him. He lived 4 days after the fall before dying on 8-31-1900. Lettie married R.C.(Robert Clifton)Hawn on 8-21-1901. They had one child, M.C.(Merle Clifton),(my grandfather)born 8-5-1904. Walter James married Bertha Carlson on 6-11-1913. They had one child, Mildred Mae born 11-28-1914. Here is where the family mystery lies. No one still living knows what became of that daughter. Bertha (the wife) died while Walter was in France in WWI. Walter died in France 5-9-1919. The daughter would have been 4 years old and an orphan. The last indication we have of where she was is from Walter's obitutary which said he was survived by a daughter of Des Moines, IA.
