LAKE VIEW, Iowa -- Edward Peters, 63, of Lake View died Monday, March 5, 2012, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Battle Creek, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Sac City.

Edward P. Peters, age 63, of Lake View, Iowa, died Monday, March 5, 2012, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend Don Pobanz will officiate, with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Battle Creek, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be held on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Sac City.

Born November 22, 1948, in Danbury, Iowa, Edward Paul Peters was the son of Forrest and Elaine (Mauch) Peters. He grew up and received his education in Battle Creek. Ed was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On June 9, 1971, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Miller in Elk Point, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Sac County, where Ed worked for local farmers and did construction for a number of years. In 1988, they made their home in Lake View. For the past 34 years, Ed owned and operated Peters Painting and Tree Service.

A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ed also belonged to Pheasants Forever and Whitetails Unlimited. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He shared his love of nature with his children and grandchildren and made many happy memories pheasant hunting and coon hunting with them. Ed also enjoyed auctions, garage sales, demolition derbys, and the occasional trip to the casino.

Survivors include his wife, Becky; three children, Shawn (Kara) Hopkins of Raymore, MO, Paul (Melinda) Peters of Odebolt, and Tim Peters and fiancée Brenda Kunneke of Wall Lake; six grandchildren, Kristopher and Collin Hopkins, and Jacob, Jonathon, Courtney, and Joshua Peters; a special buddy, Owen Worthan; two brothers, John (Cindy) Peters of Battle Creek, and Tom (Dena) Peters of Schaller; two sisters, Bonnie (Jerry) Besson of Las Vegas, NV, and Mae Hedberg of Battle Creek; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Peters; and a sister, Judy Collins.

Judy Ann Collins, daughter of Forest and Elaine (Mauch) Peters, was born January 28, 1943, in Danbury, IA. She received her early education in Danbury and then attended high school in Battle Creek, IA. She enjoyed playing basketball and softball and was part of the state softball championship team her senior year.

On June 28, 1966, she married Francis Collins in Racine, WI. Following their marriage, they lived in several communities and Judy worked at various jobs and settled in Spencer in 2002. Judy liked to crochet, paint ceramics and enjoyed gardening. She liked to collect clowns and drink coffee with her friends, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

On September 5, 2006, Judy passed away at the Longhouse Residence at the age of 63. She was preceded in death by her father and one nephew, Michael Peters.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Pamela Doran and her husband, Steven of Everly, IA; her son, Ted Collins and his wife, Sissy Jo of Windom, MN; three grandchildren: Colton and Carissa Doran and Dylan Collins; her mother, Elaine Peters of Battle Creek, IA; two sisters: Bonnie Besson and her husband, Jerry of Las Vegas, NV and Mae Hedberg and her husband, Donny of Battle Creek, IA; three brothers: John Peters and his wife, Cindy of Battle Creek, IA, Ed Peters and his wife, Becky of Lake View, IA and Tom Peters and his wife, Dena of Schaller, IA several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Elaine Peters, age 86, of Battle Creek, Iowa, died Monday, April 11, 2011, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 14, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend Kevin Freese officiated, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Battle Creek.

Born June 15, 1924, in Ute, Iowa, Elaine Lena (Mauch) Peters was one of eight children born to Edward and Emma (Miller) Mauch. She attended rural school in Castana. On September 17, 1941, Elaine was married to Forrest J. Peters in Dakota City, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Battle Creek where they raised their family of six children, Judy, Bonnie, John, Mae, Ed, and Tom.

Elaine was a hard-working woman who loved the out-of-doors. Over the years, she worked at the local feed store, cooked at the hospital, cleaned poultry, ran a cream station, supervised a bean-walking crew, sold worms, and worked at the nursing home. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and visiting with people. Elaine took pride in the many sets of dish towels she embroidered for her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a happy and contented woman who loved her grandchildren and had a good sense of humor.

Survivors include five children, Bonnie (Jerry) Bessom of Las Vegas, NE, John (Cindy) Peters of Battle Creek, Mae Hedberg of Battle Creek, Ed (Rebecca) Peters of Lake View, and Tom (Dena) Peters of Schaller; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Frank Collins of Ida Grove; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; her parents; a daughter, Judy Collins; a grandson, Mike Peters; a son-in-law, Don Hedberg; five brothers; and one sister.
