A little information on Adam Treiber, from Danbury, Iowa book.Adam Treiber was born in Stadelhofen, Bavaria Germany, to Stephen and Kunegunda Deutzer Treiber on January 18,1849. He worked as a coachman in Germany and hauled the priests to their various destinations. He came to the US in 1870 and worked as a cooper in NY until 1877. He married Bertha Draude September 15,1873. Her parents were Peter and Anna Gertrude Siebert Draude. Adam and Bertha had two daughters Elizabeth and Marie, both born in NY. In 1877, they came to Danbury, Iowa where an aunt and uncle of Adam's lived, George and Catherine Deutzer Castle. Adam and Bertha had a total of 12 children. Adam died February 27,1930 and Bertha died October 22,1930. Their children were;
1. Elizabeth born February 20,1875 in NY. She married Otto Gierman February 14,1902 in Onawa. They had one child, August. Elizabeth died July 6,1915.
2. Marie "Mame" was born October 6,1876 in NY. She married Fred Mensinger in 1896. They lived in Vulcan, Alberta, Canada. They had three children; Ben, Adam and Fred. Mame died in Calgary Canada June 21,1937.
3. Charley was born November 17,1878 in Monona County, Iowa. He married Mamie Lille on March 15,1911. They had; Caroline (Mrs. Joseph Uhl), Carl and Pauline (Mrs Irvin Jochims). Charley died April 11,1963.
4. John was born August 28,1880 in Monona County. He married Josephine Rhode February 16,1905. They had four children; Minnie (Mrs. Ralph Scott), Viola (Mrs. Henry Dimig), Mable (Mrs. Clair Keitges) and Berneice (Mrs. John Warnke). John died July 12,1952.
5. Anton (Tony) was born April 12,1882 in Monona County, Iowa. He married Nellie Rosauer on February 28,1911. They had; Virgil, Frank, Mildred (Mrs. Leonad Dientz), Leona (Mrs. Robert Calhoun) and Doris (Mrs. Robert Gray). Anton died June 19,1963.
6. Catherine (Kate) was born June 27,1884 in Monona County. She married Walter Otto February 18,1918. They had; Lawrence, Minnie (Mrs. Glenn Uhl), Earl. Kate died January 21,1941.
7. George was born July 28,1886 in Monona County. He married Louise Babbe June 10,1914. They had one child, Helen (Mrs. Everett Durston). George died October 31,1942.
8. Anna was born June 5,1888 in Monona County, Iowa. She married Andy Bowers on January 28,1913. They had one son, Jay.
9. Frederick (Fred) was born April 16,1890. He married Mary Fleischman May 3,1921. They had two children, Leo and Mary (Mrs. Leo Dirksen). Fred died October 9,1969.
10. August was born March 6,1892 in Monona County. He married Elizabeth Koll February 23,1914. Children were; Maurice, Violet (Mrs. Paul Hagerty), Marjorie (Mrs. Wm. J. Bennett), Jean (Mrs. Duane Smith), and Ralph. August died January 9,1962
11. Adam Jr. was born April 7,1894. He married Elizabeth Schimmer August 11,1914. They had; Paul, Loyal, Ethel (Mrs. Leonard Newman) and Harold. Adam died November 2,1948.
12. Louis was born May 23,1896. He married Viola Bowers February 10,1920. Their children were; Bertha (Mrs. Elmer Bertlesen), Norma (Mrs. Cecil Burke), Louis Jr., Arlene (Mrs. Earl Cameron), Fern (Mrs. Kendall Sexton), Jane (Mrs. Richard Uhl) and James. Louis died December 11,1960.
