Follows Husband After Four Days; Death Removes Mrs. Trousdale, Mother of Manager Baxter Hotel
Four days after her earthly companion of more than fifty-eight years had responded to the beckoning call of his Creator, Mrs. C. W. Trousdale was united in death with her husband. Her passing took place at two o’clock Saturday afternoon, March 29. Mrs. Trousdale who had been deeply concerned over the last serious illness of her husband, was stricken with apoplexy the previous Sunday and remained for several days in a semi conscious condition, so seriously ill that she could not be told of the loss of her husband.
The funeral was held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Moore mortuary parlors, with Rev. George W. Dunn of the Methodist church in charge. Mrs. Trousdale was laid beside the form of her husband on the sun kissed slopes of Ida Grove cemetery.
Louise Cox, the daughter of George and Frances Cox, was born July 20, 1851 at Oyster Bay, Long Island and she lived to the age of 78 years, 8 months and 9 days. With her family, she moved to Wisconsin in 1868 and was united in marriage to Charles W. Trousdale at Fayette, Wis., October 11, 1871. It was a beautiful union, filled with devotion and the spirit of self sacrifice and this happy couple was permitted not only to celebrate their golden wedding in 1921, but to have a fifty-eighth anniversary last fall in form of a family reunion, with all their children and descendants about them.
Mrs. Trousdale is survived by four sons: Merle M., Earl E., and Boyd B. of Cedar Rapids, who are in the theatrical business under the name of the Trousdale players and Winn W., the proprietor of the Baxter Hotel of Ida Grove. There are six grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ella Dexter, of Ida Grove.
