Mary E. (Elliott) Lacy
March 23, 1943 - January 22, 2020

Mary Edith (Elliott) Lacy, was born March 23, 1943, in Soldier, Iowa. She was the youngest of two daughters born to Timothy and Molly (Hemnes) Elliott. In her youth she grew up on various Army bases and resided in many different states including Iowa, South Dakota, Tennessee, and New Mexico. She graduated from high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She then moved on to make her home in Kalamazoo, Michigan where she had her two oldest children, James J. Turner in 1965 and Janet L. Turner in 1966. She then came back to reside in Sioux City, IA and had her last child, Jennifer J. Woebke in 1974. In 1977, she went back to school to become a nurse graduating from Western Iowa Tech Community College with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Throughout her career she worked at both St. Luke's and Mercy located in Sioux City, Iowa as well as becoming a traveling nurse. The last place she loved working was as a nurse at the Winnebago Indian Health Hospital. Mary also would partake in public speaking events on health topics. Mary enjoyed reading, writing poetry and listening to music, taking her grandkids to the movies, playing basketball, and her St. Bernard "Roscoe". Among the important things in her life were her faith and her church. She is survived by one sister Alyce Grabe of Mahomet, Illinois; her three children, James (Marion) Turner of Karlsruhe, Germany, Janet Turner of Des Moines, Iowa, Jennifer (Chris) Woebke of Ida Grove, Iowa; one nephew Mark (Diane) Baysore; seven grandchildren; one grandniece, two grandnephews and two great-grandchildren.
