Isaac Butterfield Goodrich
(April 25, 1881 – May 11, 1942Cushing News – Isaac Butterfield Goodrich was born April 25, 1881, on a farm near Denison, Ia., where he resided until he became of age. While in his early twenties he learned the barber trade, which profession he had followed ever since. On February 28, 1911, he was married to Mrs. Emma Gary at Belden, Neb. They established their home in Cushing, where he had been in business for 33 years. About three years ago his health began to fall, but he continued working whenever able. During all of this time he had the devoted care of his wife. On Friday evening, May 8, he became seriously, Ill, and passed away at his home at 3:30 p.m. May 11. Surviving are the widow, Emma, a stepson, Earl Gary, and granddaughter, Gladys Marie Gary, of Orange City, and three sisters, Mrs. Kate Rousch of Woodbine, Mrs. Fred Smith of Ava, Mo., and Mrs. Charles Fienhold of Dow City. Funeral services were held in the Cushing Methodist church at 2:00 p.m. May 13 with the pastor, Rev. J. L. DeGarmo, officiating. Dannie Galvin, accompanied by Mrs. L. M. Wallace at the piano, sang “Rock of Ages” and “Abide with Me.” Mrs. J. J. Pruchs and Mrs. F. W. Baumann arranged the flowers. The pallpearers were Fred Baumann, Charles Baxter, Dick Galvin, Henry Kuhlken, Elmer Ohme and James Stoneking. Interment was in the Cushing Cemetery. Relatives from a distance here for the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Gary and Gladys of Orange City; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fienhold of Dow City, Mrs. Kate Rousch and Everett Rousch of Woodbine; Leonard Goodrich of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. William Marr, Guild Evans, Mrs. Agnes Nichols and Mrs. Mary Butler of Arion; Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Keller of Odebolt, and Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Hoffman, E. A. Hoffman, Mrs. H. R. Timm and Mrs. Rose Brazell of Sioux City.
