Obituary of Mrs. E. A. Reyman
This community has lost another of the early settlers, in the death of Mrs. E. A. Reyman Louisa Heitt was born in Racine, Wis., August 28, 1857, and passed away at her home near Cushing, March 25, 1940, at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 26 days. When six years old she, with her parents, moved to Preston, Ia., where she spent the remainder of her childhood. She was baptized in childhood and joined the German Lutheran church at that time. On October 4, 1875, she was united in marriage to Ernest A. Reyman and resided on a farm near Clinton, Ia., until 1891 when they moved to the present farm home south of Cushing. To this union were born eleven children. Mr. Reyman died December 27, 1928. The oldest child died in infancy and surviving Mrs. Reyman are George W., Mrs. George Volkert, Mrs. John Joy, Frank L., Ernest and Loretta of Cushing, Mrs. Walter Joy of St. Francis, Kans.; John of Freewater, Ore., Charles of Brookings, S. D., and William of Sioux City. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Bradley Hunter of Blooming Prairie, Minn, two brothers, William Heitt of Longmont, Colo., and Peter Heitt of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, 41 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Cushing Methodist church on Thursday afternoon, in charge of the pastor, Rev. L. J. Runion, Mr. Reynold and Alice Jane Brownlee and Mrs. L. M. Wallace at the piano, sang “When They Ring Those Golden Bells” “Good Night and Good Morning: and “It Is Well With My Soul” Mrs. E. H. Ohme and Mrs. F. W. Baumann cared for the flowers, The pallbearers were Charles Knapp, Harry Kurtz, Joe Schreurs, Ferd Westphal, Marvin Sims and Harald Demarest. Burial was in the Cushing Cemetery. The following relatives from a distance were here for the funeral Mr. and Mrs. Walter Joy of St. Francis, Kans., Charles Reyman of Brookings, S. D., Mr. and Mrs. William Reyman and Carrol, Mr. and Mrs. William Reyman Jr., Mrs. Raymond Christiansen and Mr. and Mrs. William Putensen of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Clapsaddle of Galva, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Foard of Arthur.
