Obituary of Mrs. Shade
Mrs. George W. Shade passed away Monday, Feb. 5, at her home 603 West Oakland Ave., Austin, Minn., after an illness of ten days. Frances A. Barnhart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Barnhart of Toronto, Iowa, was born Oct. 31, 1862, and attained the age of 77 years, 3 months, and 5 days. On March 13, 1882, she was united in marriage to George W. Shade of Toronto, Ia. Following their marriage they moved to a farm near Ida Grove, which was their home for nearly 40 years. This home was blessed with five children, three sons and two daughters. All the children survive with the exception of one daughter, Mrs. Maud M. Dennis of Cedar Rapids, Ia., who passed away in 1918. In March of 1921, the family moved to Austin, Minn., where they have since made their home. Left to mourn the death of Mrs. Shade are the husband, George W. Shade; three sons, Virgil E. Shade of Kansas City, Mo.; Victor G., and Julius E. Shade of Austin, one daughter, Mrs. A. W. Kuhl of Austin, also five grandchildren. In early life she united with the Methodist church at Ida Grove, her membership was later transferred to the church at Austin. She was a lovely Christian mother, a loyal friend, and a good neighbor. She will be greatly missed by her family and large circle of friends. All who knew her loved her, and her memory will linger long. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Jordan Mortuary, Rev. F. E. Clawson and Dr. E. H. Knehans officiating. Music was furnished by James Long Jr., and Rev. and Mrs. Clawson. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery. The distant relatives who attended the funeral were Dr. V. E. Shade from Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. R. D.
