Donald G. Norris, age 39, of Holstein, Iowa (formally of Arthur, Iowa) passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center of Cherokee, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Gove, Iowa. The Reverend Mr. Mike Stover will officiate. Burial will follow at the Mount Calvary Cemetery of Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. The Christensen ~ Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Donald G. Norris, the son of Gaylen and Mary Jane Norris was born February 11, 1975 in Ida Grove, Iowa. His childhood years were spent living in Arthur, Iowa with his grandmother Frances Vaughan and his sister Kimberly. He attended Odebolt-Arthur schools and later graduated from truck driving school in Sioux City, Iowa. He was employed as a truck driver for several months in Sioux City last fall until he became very ill with cancer. Don was a talented musician, he loved to play guitar and sing, including karaoke. He played with several bands over the years. Don is survived by a half-sister, Wendy Wallace of Washta, Iowa; Uncles and aunts, Ben (Shari) Vaughan of Norwalk, Iowa, Deb (Don) Rogge of Loveland, Colorado; Don is also survived by many friends including his best friend Amanda Kenkel.
