LaVonne Eileen Hoops
(October 20, 1925 – September 18, 2020)GALVA – Services for LaVonne E. Hoops, age 94, of Galva were held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Galva with the Rev. Paul D. Egger officiating. Burial was in Holstein Cemetery at Holstein. Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home in Holstein is in charge of arrangements.
LaVonne Eileen Harden was born Oct. 20, 1925, to George and Alice (Goettsch) Harden. She graduated in 1944 from Aurelia High School. She then worked at Strickler’s Variety Store in Storm Lake. On Dec. 22, 1945, she married Harold Hoops in Ida Grove. To this union, four daughters were born. LaVonne helped Harold by taking calls and scheduling trucking loads with his business, Hoops Trucking. Her family always looked forward to Christmas, as she would make many different kinds of Christmas cookies and goodies. She loved to crochet blankets, pillows and holiday decorations. She died Sept. 18, 2020, at AbilitT Senior Living in Holstein.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; a daughter, Jeane Anne; a granddaughter, Jodi Foreman; four sisters: Berniece (Wallace) Koopman, Thelma (Roy) McGee, Norma Peterson and Gloria (Alfred) Felten; a brother, Virgil (Dorothy) Harden; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law: Marvin (Lillian) Hoops, Remon (Golda) Bithell, Bill Leonard and Joelle Hoops. Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Eileen (Rex) Foreman of Alton, Jo (Mark) Waterbury of Burbank, S.D., and Teresa (John) Wendel of Schaller. Also surviving are her sisters- and brothers-in-law: Gloria Leonard of Holstein, Don Hoops of Galva, Raymond (Madonna) Hoops of Hawarden and Gilbert Peterson of Arizona; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends.
