(January 12, 1926 – September 24, 2020)

BATTLE CREEK – Services for G.C. “Junior” Boysen Jr., 94, of Battle Creek were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 28, 2020, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove with Revs. Richard Salcido and Neil Wehmas will officiating.
Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery at Ida Grove, with military rites by McNamara Moore Post No. 61 of the American Legion in Ida Grove. Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home in Ida Grove was in charge of arrangements.
G.C. “Junior” Boysen Jr., son of Agnes (Schmidt) and Gustav H. Boysen Sr., was born Jan. 12, 1926, in Ida Grove. He was raised in rural Ida Grove on the farm. He attended country school until the eighth grade and then was engaged in farming with his father. Junior proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII while stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Ida Grove and continued farming. On Feb. 28, 1951, Junior married Emma Jean Deppe in Ida Grove. The couple was blessed with three children: Larry, Theresa and Gail. Junior was engaged in crop and livestock farming all his life. During retirement, he helped his neighbor, Al Schreiber, as a farmhand. He remained on the farm until the later years of his life, when he became a resident of Willow Dale Wellness Village in Battle Creek. He died Sept. 24, 2020, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and Gustav Boysen Sr.; his wife, Emma Jean Boysen; two brothers: Robert (Darlene) Boysen and Vertis (Ruth) Boysen; and a sister, Rose A Rie Boysen. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Larry (Lori) Boysen Sr. of Battle Creek, Theresa (Richard) Riessen of Battle Creek and Gail (Christine) Boysen of Ida Grove; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends.
