Funeral Services for Oscar Gustus
Funeral services for Oscar Gustus, who passed away in Ida Grove, July 5, were held from the Hudgel funeral home Friday, July 9, Rev. A. W. Erickson of the Arthur Baptist Church conducted the service and burial was made in the family lot in Floyd Cemetery, Sioux City. Pall bearers were Jubel Swanson, B. A. Samuelson, Addie Anderson, Charles Bergin, Guy Eckman and Richard Gustafson.
Oscar Gustus was born in DeKalb, Ill., Dec. 10, 1859, and at the time of his death was 79 years, 6 months and 25 days of age. He lived the greater part of his life in DeKalb, but moved to the Arthur community about ten years ago and has resided here since that time.
He was married to Miss Johnson at DeKalb, Ill. To this union five children were born, three of whom preceded him in death, two dying in infancy. His wife passes away several years ago. Mr. Gustus was confirmed and became a member of the Swedish Lutheran Church at DeKalb. For many years he was employed on the railroad. Surviving are two sons, Franklin of Sioux City and George of Cherokee, also one sister, Mrs. C. L. Larson and two brothers, Victor and William, all of DeKalb. One sister, Mrs. John Wibe of Sioux City passed away in March of this year.
