Two Days of Unconsciousness Terminates in Death Friday Afternoon
The Frank Plautz home is shrouded in sorrow, just at the advent of the Christmas holidays, by the demise of Mrs. Plautz, after two days illness that had its inception late last Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Plautz had attended the meeting of the Lutheran sewing circle at the home of Mrs. Julius Rohwer and had gone down town to complete her buying of Christmas gifts. As she concluded her purchases she began to feel ill and went to her husband’s filling station. Her son-in-law, Mr. Michaelsen took her home. She walked into her home and immediately became unconscious. Her physician was unable to arouse her and decided that she had been [text illegible] with an apoplectic attack. She lingered until Friday at 2:30 p.m. when death came. The funeral was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in ida Grove, the pastor, Rev. J. H. Iversen preaching the discourse in English. She was laid to rest in Ida Grove Cemetery.
Augusta Louise Hilker was born April 30, 1875 in Lippedetmalt, Germany and attained the age of 55 years, 7 months and 19 days. She came to America in 1891 at the age of 16 years and was married Feb. 15, 1899 to Frank W. Plautz. They resided three years in Grant Township and for eighteen years at the Plautz homestead in Logan Township. In the spring of 1920, Mr. and Mrs. Plautz retired from active farm labors and moved into Ida Grove. Mrs. Plautz formerly had three sisters residing in Germany, but two of them have already preceded her in death, leaving one of them, Gretchen, still living. There is one brother, William Hilker, of Ida Grove. She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Gus Michaelsen and Mrs. Fred C. Mundt, both of Ida Grove and by two little granddaughters. Mrs. Plautz was a member of the Lutheran Church and a faithful member of the Ladies Aid. She was a woman of many splendid traits of character and will be greatly missed by her devoted family and a large circle of acquaintances.
