George P. Warren’s Death
Died – In Ida Grove on Wednesday, October 13, 1909, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Paul Biery, Mr. George P. Warren. Mr. Warren was one of the early settlers of Battle Creek, an old-time citizen who had the respect and esteem of everyone. A few years ago his health began failing and he went west to California where he lived for 19 months. Mr. Warren then returned to Ida County and has since resided at the Biery home.
George Palmer Warren was born in Spring Hill, Whiteside County, Ill., June 26, 1849. In 1873 he came to Benton County, Iowa, and to Ida County in 1879, where he has since lived with the exception of the time he was in California for his health. He was married to Ida Palmer in 1881, and to them six children were born, four of whom survive to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father. Mrs. Warren died in 1890. The remains were taken to Battle Creek Thursday afternoon and were laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery. [Note - according to census years, George P. Warren was born in 1859]
