Mrs. D. E. Lloyd Passes Away
Beloved Mother of 11 Children Had Suffered from Heart Trouble
Mrs. D. E. Lloyd passed away at her home on Taylor Street Monday, August 4, 1930 at 2:15 a.m., after a few days illness. She had been a sufferer from heart trouble for the past eight years and last Thursday about 5 o’clock p.m. she was taken with a paralytic stroke. Medical aid and a nurse were summoned and everything was done to relieve her suffering. Again early Monday morning she was taken with a second stroke and passed away in a short time. Josephine M. Welch, daughter of Joseph and Jane Welch was born at Lyons, in Clinton County, Iowa, November 21, 1869. She attained the age of 60 years, 8 months, and 14 days. At the age of 12 she moved with her parents from Clinton County to Hubbard, Iowa, where she lived for six years when they moved to Vermillion, S. D., where she attended the University of South Dakota for three years. In 1895 she moved to Battle Creek and made her home with her sister, Mrs. Gus Hilker. At this time she was united in marriage to Delbert Eugene Lloyd on January 30, 1895. They have resided in this vicinity ever since, moving to Ida Grove two years ago. To this union were born ten daughters and one son, two daughters passed away at the ages of 3 and 5. Those left to mourn her loss with the husband are: Joe, Amber, Merle, Pearl, Frances, Edna, Fern, Viola and Mrs. Mabel Shever. One brother, Geo. W. Welch living at Akron, Colo. Also survives.
Funeral services were held at the home at 2 o’clock Wednesday and at 2:30 at the Methodist church, Rev. R. Jinkerson having charge of the services. Burial was made in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Battle Creek. Mrs. Lloyd was a kind and loving mother and wife, always ready to help others in time of need and affliction.
