Meinhard Lorenzen
Arthur- Funeral services were help Friday afternoon for Meinhard Lorenzen at the Arthur Methodist church with Rev S T Fitch officiating. Music was furnished by Nancy Waggoner, Jane Thevenot and Elaine Forsberg accompanied by Mrs.Virginia Boggs. Bearers were Burly Grove, jack Hough, Herbert Jurgensen Verdell Salmon, Gerald Bieschke and Elmer Eng. Interment was at the Ida Grove Cemetery. Flower arrangements were in charge of Mrs. Elmer Eng, Mrs. Lea Wagoner and Mrs. Gerald Bieschke. Ushers were Lea Waggoner and Norman Forsberg.
Meinhard Lorenzen, known to us all as Mike, was born on a farm eight miles north of Battle Creek August 25, 1902, the son of Mathias and Christina Lorenzen He grew to manhood in this vicinity living n the same farm even one year after his marriage.l He was born to parents of Lutheran faith, bing baptized and at the age of fourteen being confirmed in the Lutheran church at Holstein
January 18, 1928 he was united in marriage to Elna Nielsen daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas Nielsen of Danbury. To this union was born two sons, Harold and Wayne also of this community Mr. Lorenzen has lived on several different farms since his marriage but always in the Arthur community He was a member of the Methodist church of seventeen years first at Ida Grove and later changed his member4ship to the Arthur Methodist church and been a faithful member along with his family until the present time.
On April 14 at 12:30 he passed away at his home of a heart attack at the age of 51 years 7 months and 20 days. His bereaved family along with a host of friends, neighbors and relatives mourn his passing Mike was a loving husband and a devoted father and lived his short life for his family he loved so dearly. He was a true friend to everyone and was admired and respected by all who knew him. He was known to be a friend with a willing hand and to stand by all who needed him.
He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife, Elna, his sons, Harold and Wayne, a daughter-in-law, Nola and a daughter-in-law to be, Beverly Walles of Baynard, three brothers, Chris of Battle Creek, Pat of Holstein and Carsten of Battle Creek along with other relatives, nieces , nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
Among those attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hintz and Carl Lorenzen of Oxford Junction, Mrs. Dewey Carlson of Marion, Lawrence Lorenzen of Anamosa, Henry Lorenzen of Centerville, Mrs. Alva Larkey of Onslow, Sanky Peterson, Mrs. and Mrs. Corky Peter3son of Harris, Mr and Mrs. Henry Sloker of Melvin and Albert Van Streeken of Minnesota. Relatives were also present from Holstein, Battle Creek, Correctionville, Walthill, Neb, Arco, Minnesota,Ida Grove, Odebolt, Galva, Denison and Cushing.
