Floy E. Anderson

Floy passed from this life on March 22, 2013. She was born August 16, 1918, the fifth of eight children born to William A. and Kathryn Anderson, and was the last surviving member of a very close family.

Floy graduated from high school in Ida Grove, IA, and entered the American Institute of Business (AIB) in Des Moines. Upon completion of business college, Floy went to work for Amoco Oil Company where she was employed for 38 years.

She was a 50-year member of the First United Methodist Church in Des Moines. She was a long-time member of South Gate Chapter #547 OES and was a Past Matron. Floy particularly enjoyed her social activities and held the offices of treasurer of the Social Circle in OES. She was also a 25-year member of the Des Moines Charter Chapter of American Business Women’s Association. Floy was part of the Wesley Acres Guild, having been treasurer for many years. She cherished and loved her many memories with relatives and friends

Floy is survived by her nieces and nephews, Augie Fischer, Bill Fischer, Maurine Shields, Joe Fischer, MaryAnn Tjaden, Richard Coil, Candace Halweg, Carol Bobolz, Raymond Anderson, Roger Anderson, James Anderson, and Barbara Springer.

She was preceded in death by nephews, Billy Jo Anderson and Bob Coil.

Floy’s family would like to thank her many wonderful caregivers that she has had at Wesley Acres over the past 17 months.

A visitation will begin at 9 a.m., concluding with a service at 10 a.m., on Monday, March 25, 2013, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Burial will be at the Ida Grove Cemetery.
