MRS. BASSETT`S LIFE SPAN ENDED
Failing Health Began Last November, Resided in Ida Grove 25 Years

Ida Grove people bade farewell last week to Mrs. William H. Bassett, a much loved resident of this community for about a quarter of a century. She passed into the life eternal last Thursday afternoon after a brief attack of heart disease from which she could not rally. Mrs. Bassett`s health had been impaired since last November, when she sustained a stroke. She seemed to rally somewhat untill seven weeks ago, when she had a severe setback.

She was born December 3 1869 at London, Ontario, and was the daughter of George and Anna Kennard James. She was the next to the youngest in the family of eleven children, all of whom have preceded her in death, except one sister.

At an early age, she united with the Congregational church in London, where she grew to womanhood. In 1907, she removed with her sister and brother-in-law to Manistique, Mich. She was married to Mr. Bassett on August 3 1909. A short time latter, they moved to Ida Grove which has been their home, excepting for a brief residence in California.

Mrs. Bassett`s interest centered in the church and the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Maple Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.

Mr. Bassett and their daughter Alice, Mrs. Ernest Turin, are left in deep sorrow at her passing, as she was always the center and attrachion of the home. She always maintained a calm and agreeable spirit in all her affairs. She was a woman of deep and devout faith. Her Bible is well worn and marked with the passages that are the sustaining spirit of mankind.

In addition to the immediate family, Mrs. Bassett leaves one sister Mrs. Etta Copeland of London, Ontario, and a number of neices and nephews.

The funeral was held in the Methodist church Saturday afternoon, in charge of the pastor, Rev. G.W.Dunn. The members of the Eastern Star attended in a body. Mrs. Bassett was laid to rest in Ida Grove cemetery.
