Irving N. Anderson, 75, of Anthon, died Friday, Feb. 14, 1992, at the Willow Dale Care Center in Battle Creek, Iowa, due to cancer.
Services were Monday at the United; Methodist Church in Anthon with Rev. Joe d Dowling Soka officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery at Anthon under direction of Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.
Mr. Anderson was born Jan. 6, 1917, at Battle Creek, Iowa, son of Niels L. and Pedra (Pedersen) Anderson. In 1935, he moved to Detroit, Mich, and worked for the Ford Motor Company. He married Thelma Branf, Jan. 25, 1940, at Detroit. He worked first on the Lincoln Zephyr and later on Sherman tanks. In 1946, he returned to Iowa to farm near Anthon and Correctionville, until buying a farm near Moville in 1950. In 1963, they moved back to Anthon, where they farmed until retiring into town in 1982.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carol Clemens of Iowa City; a son, Eric of Selah, Wash.; and a sister and her husband, Ardis (Penny) and Gary Hartmann of Akron.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.
