William S. Blair
born Jan 3, 1854, PA

W. S. Blair, a farmer in Logan Township, Ida County, was born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, January 3, 1854, a son of William H. Blair, a native of the same county. He is a member of an old and prominent Pennsylvania family, and was engaged in teaching about forty terms in one building in Orrstown, that State. His daughter also followed that occupation for the past five years. The mother of our subject, nee Mary Jane Smith, was reared and educated in Orrstown, and was a pupil of Mr. Blair. She died about twenty years ago, leaving seven children, three sons and four daughters. The father still resides in Pennsylvania.
W. S. Blair, the subject, was reared and educated in his native State. After his education he learned the trade of tailor and also followed civil engineering. He went to the oil regions later on in Pennsylvania, and to Titusville, and in 1880 came to Ida County, Logan Township. His good dwelling, 16 x 24 feet, is nicely located; he has two barns, 30 x 46 and 24 x 60 feet and has a beautiful orchard and grove and is engaged in general farming and stock-raising. His place of 640 acres is well-watered by springs and brooks, and he keeps from 50 to 75 head of cattle. January 4, 1876, in Cumberland, Pennsylvania, he married Lida C. Rebok, who was reared in that county, daughter of Jacob and Katie (Bowers) Rebok, natives of Franklin and Cumberland Counties, Pennsylvania. The father, a farmer by occupation, died in Lovington, Moultri county, Illinois, in 1887, aged seventy-six years and the mother now resides in Bloomfield, Missouri. They reared six children, five daughters and one son. Our subject and his wife have one child, Mearl Irene. Our subject and wife belong to the Presbyterian Church, but now go to the Church of God church.
