Fred A. Knock
born in 1861, Iowa

Fred A. Knock, Township Clerk of Douglas Township, Ida County, was born in Jackson County, Iowa, in 1861, son of Henry and Lydia (Sergeant) Knock, natives of England. In 1855 they came to America and located in Jackson county, Iowa, where they purchased a farm and identified with the interests of that county for 37 years. Fred A., the second of five children, was reared and educated in the district schools of his native county, also attending schools of Miles, Jackson County, for four years. In 1882, he moved to Sac County, and in 1884 to Douglas township where he purchased eighty acres of raw land. He has a good residence, 28 x 28 feet, a barn, 18 x 64 feet, and a home, 24 x 40 feet, and his entire place is under a fine state of cultivation. Mr. Knock is of the Republican Party, and since 1888 he has held a position of Township Clerk. He is a member of the I. O. O. F. Lodge in Cushing. In 1883 he married Minnie Kimball in Jackson County, Iowa. She is a native of that county, daughter of Lucius Kimball, an early pioneer of Jackson County. Our subject and wife have two children: Elmer, attending school in Jackson county, Iowa; and Eva.
