I could not locate any "Elmer Lund" dying in Lake City, Iowa on January 1, 2001. However, I did locate an obituary for an "Elmer Lund" who died in Lake City on July 2, 2001. Lake City is in Calhoun County and Coon Rapids is in Carroll County. I could find no reference to Humboldt county. I am also including his wife's obituary who recently died.

Funeral services for Mr. Elmer Lund will be at 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday) July 5, 2001 at the
Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden.

Elmer, 87, of Glidden, passed away Monday July 2, 2001 at the Shady Oaks Nursing Home in Lake City following a lingering illness. Pastor Alan Miller will officiate and the burial will be in the Union Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids. Casketbearers will be Jerry Kult, Jim Hagan, Stan Janssen, Doug Pevestorf, Keith Kult and Jim Piatt.

A son of Chris and Sena (Moller) Lund, he was born on March 27, 1914 at Audubon County. He was baptized as an infant at Ebenezer Lutheran Church near Audubon and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church near Manning in 1929. As a young boy he attended school at Aspinwall. He and Anna Schumacher were married on August 27, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church north of Coon Rapids by Pastor Stelling. Elmer was a retired farmer having farmed all his life. Following his marriage they farmed for one year near Coon Rapids, then farmed in Richland Township from 1952 until 1978 when they retired and moved into Glidden. Following his retirement from farming he worked part-time for several years at Earl May Garden Center in Carroll. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, walking and playing cards. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden.

Surviving are his wife Anna of Glidden; two sisters: Edith Johnson and Erna Lund both of Coon Rapids, also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law Harold Johnson.

Anna Maria Schumacher Lund

February 13, 1916 --- June 23, 2017

Anna Maria (Schumacher) Lund, age 101, of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church near Coon Rapids with Pastor Alan Miller officiating. Organist for the service will be Becky Miller and Carl Wilburn will sing and play guitar. Casket bearers will be Rich Schumacher, Robert Schumacher, Gerry Halterman, Larry Boyer, Eric Schumacher, Jonathan Schumacher. Burial will be in the Union Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5-7 P.M. on Monday evening. The casket will be moved to Trinity Lutheran Church at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home.

Born on February 13, 1916 in Willow Township, Greene County, Iowa near Coon Rapids, Anna was the daughter of Christian and Karoline (Alber) Schumacher. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church near Coon Rapids as young girl. Anna attended country school and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1933. Following high school, she worked for Armour Creamery and the Garst and Thomas Seed Company in Coon Rapids.

She was married to Elmer Lund on August 27, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Elmer and Anna farmed north of Coon Rapids until their retirement in 1978 at which time they moved to Glidden. She enjoyed her flower garden, crocheting, playing cards and jigsaw puzzles. Elmer and Anna enjoyed traveling after retirement.

Anna has made her home at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids since May 16, 2011. She dearly loved the staff at Thomas Rest Haven and her family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the excellent care she received.

Anna is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer in 2001; her parents; three brothers: John Schumacher and his wife Cleophia, George Schumacher and his wife Paula, and Carl Schumacher and his wife Verna; three sisters: Lizzie Lawrence and her husband Conrad, Emma Smouse and her husband Ralph and Rosina Schumacher as a child.
