Ernest E. Logue, 87, long-time businessman of Humboldt and Kossuth Counties, died Friday (Nov. 6, 1981) at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Livermore with interment in the Union Cemetery, Livermore. Friends may call at the Wilson Funeral Home in Livermore after 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Surviving are his wife, Inez; sons, Keith, Las Vegas, and Donald, Humboldt; daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Charlotte) Seger and Mrs. JoAnn Stiltz, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; Mrs. Don (Lois) Armstrong, Pheonix, Ariz., and Mrs. Rex (Beverly) Cottington, Peoria, Ariz.; stepson, Bill Swenson, Livermore, Calif.; step-daughters Mrs. Vic (Arlene) Schultz, Livermore, and Mrs. Floyd (Mildred) Nickel, Mason City; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Charles, Hutchinson, Minn.

Mr. Logue was born in Humboldt County and attended country schools. He then began working in the oil business in Ackley. He married Clara Johnson in 1919 in Fort Dodge. They made their home in Ackley and later moved to Eagle Grove for several years. They moved to Livermore in 1929 and he established the Livermore Oil Company which he expanded to 13 petroleum outlets throughout Humboldt and Kossuth Counties. His wife died in 1962 and he married Inez Danborn Swenson in 1965 in Livermore. Mr. Logue retired in 1968.

Mr. Logue was a member, elder and treasurer of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a charter member of the Livermore Lion's Club and the Friends and Neighbors Club of Livermore, and he was a charter member and long-time director of the Iowa Independent Oil Jobbers Association.

Ernest E. Logue, the son of David and Maggie (Schriber) Logue, was born July 19, 1894, in Humboldt Township, Humboldt County, Iowa. He attended country schools and later worked in the oil business in Ackley, Iowa. On April 9, 1919, he married Clara Johnson in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove for several years before moving to Livermore, where he established the Livermore Oil Company in 1929. He expanded the business to thirteen petroleum outlets throughout Humboldt and Kossuth Counties, and continued to operate the business until retiring in 1968. His wife, Clara, died in 1962. On February 18, 1965, he married Inez Danborn Swenson in Livermore.

Ernest was a member, elder and longtime treasurer of Immanuel Lutheran Church, a charter member of the Livermore Lions Club, charter member and longtime director of Iowa Independent Oil Jobbers Association, and a charter member of Friends and Neighbors Club of Livermore.

Ernest E. Logue passed from this life on Friday, November 6, 1981, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt. He had attained the age of eighty-seven years, three months, and seventeen days. He is survived by his wife, Inez; two sons, Keith of Las Vegas and Donald, of Humboldt; four daughters, Charlotte, Mrs. Stanley Seger, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Lois, Mrs. Don Armstrong, of Phoenix, Arizona, Beverly, Mrs. Rex Cottington, of Peoria, Arizona, and Mrs. JoAnn Stiltz, of Las Vegas, Nevada; one stepson, Bill Swenson, of Livermore, California; two stepdaughters, Arlene, Mrs. Dick Schultz, of Livermore, and Mildred, Mrs. Floyd Nickel, Mason City; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles, of Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Clara, and one son, Virgil.
