The Obituary of Joseph Hallstine
Joseph Hallstine died at his home in Gilmore City last Friday morning of a lingering illness. He was 81 years of age. Funeral rites were held at 9 o’clock Monday morning with Rev. Father Hugh O’Brien singing a requiem high mass for the repose of his soul. Mr. Hallstine was born in Ottawa, Ill., March 15, 1855 and had lived in Gilmore City 25 years, with his sister, Tressa Hallstine. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Cole of Gilmore City and two sisters, Miss Hallstine and Mrs. S. E. Love, also of Gilmore City. His wife died 50 years ago. Interment took place in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, with the following as casket bearers: Jas. Bain, Wm. Cavanaugh, Henry Cavanaugh, Henry Cupp, B. E. Dick and John Rogers.
