Sophia Bach
(March 7, 1847 – July 30, 1922)Obituary
Miss Sophia Baker was born Mar. 7, 1847, in the little village of Hambach, Alsace-Lorraine, France, and passed away at the home of her son, north of Gilmore City, Iowa, July 30, 1922, at the age of seventy-five years, four months and twenty-three days. In 1860 she was united in marriage to Peter Bach, also of Hambach, and in May 1872 they came to the United States, settling in Pratt County, near Monticello, Ill. Mr. Bach died there in 1896, at the age of forty-eight years. In 1903 she moved to Iowa with her son, Peter Bach, and settled near Mallard, where she has since made her home. She leaves to mourn her passing one son and two daughters: P. H. Bach of Gilmore City, Mrs. J. H. Coon of Emmetsburg, and Mrs. S. W. Clark of Blooming Prairie, Minn.; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
