Services for Bruce Thomas (Tom) Berge, 22-year-old son of Fort Dodge School Supt. and Mrs. Earl O. Berge, 2905 16th Ave. N., were held Monday at St. Olaf Lutheran church, with the Rev. George Larson, pastor, and the Rev. Murley A. Severtson, pastor of Zion United Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, officiating. Burial was in North Lawn Cemetery.

Tom was killed in a car-truck accident Thursday night while en route home from Mankato State College during a heavy snow storm.

School officials, superintendents and educators from all parts of the state were among the unusually large number of persons who attended the services. The Rev. Mr. Severson, pastor of the church Mr. Berge attended while in high school at Clear Lake, stressed the academic and athletic successes the young man achieved during his high school career as well as his high standards of character.

Pallbearers included members of Tom's Clear Lake high school basketball team, high school and college classmates. Other fellow classmates and athletes served as honorary pallbearers.

Fort Dodge Messenger March 25, 1970. (Earl Berge, father of this young man, was originally from Bode. The Rev. Mr. Severtson;s name was spelled with the "t" in one place, and Severson, without the "t" in another.)
