Mrs. Edith Louisa Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord S. Benson, was born at Hamburg, Iowa, October 30, 1878, and passed away at Mercy Hospital, Fort Dodge, Iowa, March 17, 1959 at the age of 80 years, 5 months and 18 days.

While still a child, her parents moved to Sidney, Iowa, where she received her grade and high school education. She then attended Iowa State Teacher's College, Cedar Falls, and taught school at Sidney, Spencer, Bode, Fonda, Livermore and Fort Dodge.

She was married to William F. Johnson on June 20, 1912, and made her home at Livermore since that time.

While she had been in poor health for some time, she remained active in civic and social affairs until shortly before her death.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Wiliam F. Johnson, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Benson, a brother, A.D. Benson, and a sister, Mrs. Charles K. Spellman.

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Mrs. A.D. Benson of Sidney; four nephews, Gilbert Benson, Sidney, Maynard Benson, Omaha, Frank F. Benson, Boston, and Herbert Benson, San Francisco; two nieces, Josephine Benson, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Thaddeus Thornton, Milwaukee.

Funeral services were held at Livermore Presbyterian Church with Rev. Paul Stevens officiating. Soloist was Stanley C. Nelson of Humboldt, with Mrs. Bernadine Kissinger as accompanist. Casket bearers were J.F. Hamm, John Tuttle, John Olson, Dr. R.W. Beardsley, Charles Rummens, and John Hohenberger, with interment in Union Cemetery, Livermore.
