Morris Espeland, 51, 1232 S. 19th St., was pronounced dead upon arrival at Mercy Hospital Sunday afternoon after he was found parked in his car at the rear of his home.

The death was investigated by Fort Dodge police and Dr. Jessie Landhuis, Webster County medical examiner, who ruled death was self-inflicted. Police Chief Harold Campbell said a shotgun was found in the automobile when Espeland's body was discovered.

Services w3ill be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Laufersweiler Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Birchmier, pastor of Epworth United Methodist Church, officiating. Military graveside rites will by the American Legion and Veterans of World War I.

Among survivors are the widow, Mary; daughters and a son; Mrs. Dan Keigher, Fort Dodge; Jeanne, Shelly and Robert, all at home; three grandchildren; his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Andy Espeland, Bode; brothers: Sieg Espeland, Fort Dodge; Obert Espeland, Mesa, Ariz.; and a sister, Mrs. Lloyd Irwin, Renwick,

Morris Espeland was born, reared and educated in Bode. He married Mary Dimler there in 1943. During World War II he served with the U.S. Air Force and after his discharge the couple settled in Fort Dodge. He had been employed by Gus Glaser Meats for 15 years. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
