Shirley Lavon Dasen Thorson 1925-1968

Mrs. Archie Thorson, 43, of 1108 N. 19th St., died late Sunday night at Lutheran Hospital. She had suffered from asthma and had been in ill health for about a year. She had been a patient at Lutheran Hospital since Thursday.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in St. Olaf Lutheran Church, with Rev. B.F. Molstre officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Bruces Funeral Home until noon Wednesday when the casket will be taken to the church.

Surviving are the widower; a daughter, Mrs. John Josephson, Fort Dodge; two sons, Alan K. and Scott A., both at home; a granddaughter; two brothers and six sisters, Harry Dasen, Bode, and Ralph Dasen, Sanborn; Mrs. Chester Gunderson, Belmond, Mrs. Oliver Lee, Bode, Mrs. Russell Chism, West Bend, Mrs. Arnold Maxwell, Eagle Grove, Mrs. Carlisle Halsrud, Ottosen, and Mrs. Phillis Babb, Fort Dodge.

Born in the West Bend area, Shirley LaVonne Dasen attended school in Bode. She came to Fort Dodge in 1945 where she did office work. In 1946 she married Archie M. Thorson in the Little Brown Church in Nashua and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge except for one year spent at Arnolds Park. Mrs. Thorson worked for the Sears and Roebuck store in Fort Dodge for many years.

Memorials will be used at the discretion of the family.

Note KD: Shirley was born 23 Jun 1925 at Ottosen, Humboldt County, daughter of George August Dasen and Dora Josephine Nelson. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran church at Ottosen on 11 Oct 1925. Shirley passed away 1 Dec 1968 in Fort Dodge.
