Funeral services for Barnett Opheim, 53, of Bode were held at St. Olaf Lutheran Church Monday afternoon with Rev. Norman Johnson and Cloverleaf Post No. 524 officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Donald Bakken sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Abide With Me" with Mrs. David Engel at accompanist. Casket bearers were Glenn Opheim of Whittemore, and Richard Matheson, Jerry Christianson, Myles Torgerson, Richard Bakken, and Donald Bakken of Bode.

Mr. Opheim died Friday morning at Veterans' Hospital in Des Moines following a lengthy illness. Barnett Opheim was born at Bode and graduated from Bode High School. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army. He was employed for a number of years at the Farmers Elevator in Bode.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Selma Opheim of Bode, five sisters: Mrs. Alan Olson (Arline) and Mrs. Marvin Kropf (Verna) of Bode, Mrs. John Loss (Inez) of Rolfe, Mrs. Duane Engels (Ruth) of Vincent and Mrs. Phyllis Weiss of Minneapolis; a brother, Merle Opheim of Wichita, Kansas, a daughter Mrs. Sherrill Dubis of Harvey, Ill., and a granddaughter.
