LUCILLE M. KVALE

Lucille Marian Knight, the daughter of Jay and Maude (Kelling) Knight, was born November 27, 1922, at Goldfield, Iowa. She received her education at Goldfield and graduated from Goldfield High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Leslie Kvale in 1940 at Eagle Grove. The couple farmed in the Goldfield, Eagle Grove, and Hardy areas. Mrs. Kvale was active in the farming operations and was also employed in the Sylvis Jones store in Goldfield and a cook in the Clarion Hospital. Mr. Kvale passed away in 1977 after the couple had moved to Goldfield. Lucille continued to make her home at Goldfield where she managed the Dairy-Y and later gave in home care to elderly clients in the area. Lucille then made her home in Clarion until becoming a resident of the Humboldt Care Center South in August of 2000. Mrs. Kvale was a member of the Holmes Lutheran Church and was active in the church circles. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens especially her Iris’s and Gladiola’s.

Mrs. Kvale is survived by her son, Dean Leslie Kvale and his wife Hermanetta of Deep River, Iowa; daughters and their spouses, Terrie Darlene Fry of Phoenix, AZ, Karen and Marlen Lund of Goldfield, Patricia and Bert Hawkins of Des Moines, and JoAnn and James Nelson of Goldfield; 17 Grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; 26 step-great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, James Lowell Knight of Clarion; and sister, Betty Lou Knight of Emmetsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie; brothers, Richard, Lynn, and Kenneth Knight; and sisters, Elizabeth Grandgeorge, and Ione Lewis.

Following the interment services, the Kvale family will greet friends and relatives for lunch in the fellowship hall of the church.
