Bode - Funeral services were held Monday, March 17 (1951) at 2 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran church for Mrs. Maggie Monson, 69, well known resident of Bode. The Rev. M.O. Kraabel officiated with the Lindhart funeral home of Humboldt in charge of arrangements.
Serving as pallbearers were the following grandsons of Mrs. Monson: Douglas Pederson, Kenneth Pederson, Harlan Berge, Price Torgerson, Robert Cook and Richard Torgerson. Burial was in the Bode cemetery.
Mrs. Monson, the former Maggie Halsrud, daughter of Annette and Peter Halsrud, was born in Nordland, Norway on February 10, 1882. She came to the United States with her parents when she was 12 years old. She was baptized in Bode Lutheran church by the Rev. J.E. Jorgenson and was united in marriage with Peter Pederson in 1899. They had six children.
In 1928 Mr. Pederson died and in 1931 she married M.O. Monson of Bode, who died in 1936.
Mrs. Monson is survived by six children: Earnest Pederson and Mrs. Harold (Mildred) Berge of Bode; Edwin Pederson, Cecil Pederson and Mrs. Maynard (Birdell) Torgerson of Humboldt; and Mrs. Edward (Pearl) Showers of Pocahontas. There are 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Other survivors are two brothers and one sister, Hans Halsrud of Jackson, MN; Peter Halsrud of Pocahontas; and Mrs Carl Knutson of Ryder, N.D. Another brother, Olaf Halsrud of Bode preceded her in death. 03 Apr 1951 Kossuth County Advance.
