From the Thursday, June 16, 1938 Hawarden (Sioux County, Iowa) Independent:

Death Claims Infant Son
Ronald Harley, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Watkins, passed away last Thursday noon at the Hawarden hospital. The baby was born Wednesday morning but it was feared from the first that the child would not survive. Brief funeral services were held at the Barnard Funeral Home last Friday morning and burial was made in Grace Hill cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Watkins moved to Hawarden recently when he was assigned this territory as salesman for the Armour Packing company. Mr. and Mrs. Watkins have the sympathy of their friends here in the loss of their only child.

Poster's note: Based on the obituary and a birth notice found in the previous week's paper, it appears that Ronald Harley Watkins was born on June 8, 1938. He was the son of Vivian and Harley Watkins (see 1940 Federal Census for Sioux County under Watkin) -- one family tree found on ancestry.com gives her maiden name as Carrel. I did find a mention in the March 7, 1940 Independent that Harley and his wife became the parents of a baby girl on March (March 4) at 7:20 a.m. and that when he called his brother, C. M. Watkins, Jr. of Gilmore City, his brother replied "We got a boy at 7:10 this morning!" Based on that information, it appears that one set of Ronald's grandparents was Ellen (Nelson) and Crayton Watkins of the Gilmore City area.
