OBITUARY
Mortimer Lorenzo Peckham was born June 6, 1840, in Jefferson County, Wisconsin, and died on April 4, 1913, at Humboldt Iowa. He was mustered into the 2nd Minn. vol. I. on June 26, 1861, at the age of 21 years at Ft. Snelling, and discharged 4 years later Louisville, Kentucky, on July 11, 1865. He was a corporal during the latter part of his service in the army. On Oct. 22, 1865, he was married to Annie Elizabeth Smith at Farminston, Wis., and four children were born to bless the union. His wife and two children preceded him to the great beyond. When Mr. and Mrs. Peckham came to Iowa they first settled in Webster City where they lived until the spring of 1867, when they moved to Humboldt where they made their home until their death. Funeral services were held at the residence of his son Clarence, and the remains interred in Union Cemetery. He was a good and honorable man, respected by all who knew him and held the confidence of all.
