Jerald Lee Krueger was born on April 29, 1937, son of Milton and Elsie B. (Thompson) Krueger in Fort Dodge, IA. Jerry attended school until the 8th grade when his father became ill, which required him to quit school and begin farming at the age of 14. The love of farming coursed through Jerry’s veins so having to quit school was not a huge loss for him. At the age of 16, Jerry’s sister’s friend and neighbor girl, Marie Tibbals, caught his eye. The two began dating and on December 28, 1957, Jerry married Marie Tibbals at the Lime Springs Methodist Church. For 68 years, Jerry and Marie farmed side by side on the Krueger family farm north of Lime Springs.
Jerry was a simple man who was easy to be around and had a great sense of humor. He adored his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and being on his farm. When his daughters were growing up, he made daily chores fun, like playing “cash register” using the silverware drawer while washing dishes. He was often heard saying, “Oh, just let the kids do it” when Marie was not quite on board with something their daughters or grandchildren wanted to do.
Jerry loved tending to the land, caring for his livestock especially the pigs, and watching his dogs work the cattle. When Jerry was not on his farm he enjoyed going for rides, watching professional wrestling, and fishing with Roy.
Jerry is survived by his wife Marie Krueger of LeRoy, MN; 2 daughters Barbara (Doran) Kasel of Austin, MN and Bonnie (Keith) Knode of Riceville, IA; 9 grandchildren Jim (Kacey) Kasel of Fairmont, MN, Laura (Jamie) Morrison of Austin, MN, Brian (Kelly Jo) Kasel of Austin, MN, Stephanie (Charlie) Brandsmeier of Pleasanton, CA, Matthew Kasel of Rochester, MN, Monica (Ben Wolfs) Knode of Austin, MN, Jessica (Jorge) Talamantes of Austin, MN, Becky (Seth) Tukua of Adams, MN, and Jeff (Maria) Knode of Riceville, IA; 15 great grandchildren Ben Morrison, Brianna Morrison, Annabelle Kasel, Violet Brandsmeier, Jaden Czarnota, Emma Czarnota, Kylee Czarnota, Cody (Evelyn) Gallegos, Shayna Meade, Mason Nagele, Peyton Nagele, Justin Knode, Brooklyn Knode, Addy Knode, and Emmy Knode; 4 step great grandchildren Samantha Thimmesch, Gracie Thimmesch, Felecia Thimmesch, and Stephanie (Jake) Thorson; great great grandchildren Audrey Gallegos, Arleth Gallegos, and one on the way; step great great grandchildren Harley Thimmesch Watkins, Natalie Thorson and Mariah Thorson; sister-in-law Iva Zirbel; brothers-in-law Alton Tibbals and Rex Tibbals.
