Lee Anton Gooder, 63, of Cresco, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2026, at his home surrounded by the love of his family.

Lee was born November 25, 1962 to Donald and Rose Gooder. He grew up in Cresco, Iowa, where he attended and graduated from Crestwood High School.

Lee married Jill Annette Beddow on February 20 1988, and together they raised two children, Shelley and Zach.

From a young age, Lee had a love for farming, where he devoted his life to his land and his livestock, raising sheep, cattle and a few special dogs.

Lee could almost always be found on his farm, with his dog and his livestock, wanting to be nowhere else but home. Lee was a hard worker, balancing farming, livestock, and working for Howard County Secondary Roads, where he retired from.

Anyone who knew Lee, loved Lee. He could talk to anyone about anything. He had a nickname for everyone, and will be remembered for his charm, humor and down to earth personality.

Lee is survived by his wife, Jill, daughter Shelley (Joe) Marshall, children Kennedy and Lakelyn, son Zach (Katie) Gooder, children Autumn and Ailyn, siblings Michael (Rachel) Gooder, Patrick (Becky) Gooder, and Gay Duroe, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and mother-in-law, Jolene Beddow.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Rose, a brother in infancy, father-in-law, Jack Beddow, and grandparents Anton and Ella Slifka and Ruth Gooder.

The family would like extend their heartfelt gratitude to Howard County Community Hospice for their wonderful, compassionate care provided to Lee.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Howard County Community Hospice of Cresco, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Cresco, with Father Jacob Rouse officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service, please come in and be seated. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Cresco. A private family burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
